Plant Spacing:            Thin to 2-4” depending on desired size.
Seeding Rate:              For baby leaf: 40 seeds/ft in 2-4” bands.
                                       For full size 10 seeds/ft in single row.
When to Sow:
Direct seed as soon as no danger of frost. or up to 6-8 weeks before fall frost. Optimal soil temperature for germination is 55-75°F.
 
Harvest:
Harvest when roots reach desired size. For winter storage, allow crop to stand for a few mild frost; harvest before a hard freeze. For beet greens, harvest starting around five weeks, or when leaves are 3”. Use floating row covers to extend season.
 
Special Features:
Beets (Beta vulgaris) are hardy biennials in the Chenopodiaceae family, which also includes spinach, chard, orach and quinoa. HEIRLOOM  Dark red-purple leaves used in salad mixes for a spectacular contrast.  Roots may be harvested early as baby beets. Color intensifies as plants mature.  Tolerant to heat and cold.; even moisture. Keep well weeded
